Pessimism

The more lethargic, passive display of any Cognitive trait

Too much pessimism leads to doubt and paralysis. This is best exemplified in the elderly, whose cognition is challenged with developing their most pessimistic cognitive functions. Pessimistic usage of a function is characterized by trying to not use that function poorly.
